Students must enroll in both semesters of this year-long course. This course focuses on the hip-hop cultural practice of writing rap. Students will listen to, attempt to deconstruct, and evaluate a broad range of rap music while learning the basics of composing lyrics. Students will be expected to write original raps and engage in community-based projects and partnerships, making regular use of the UVA Rap Lab.
