Barbara Brown Wilson’s research and teaching focus on the history, theory, ethics, and practice of sustainable community design and development, and on the role of urban social movements in the built world. She is also a co-founder and the former faculty director of the UVA Democracy Initiative Center for the Redress of Inequity through Community-Engaged Scholarship (aka The Equity Center). In 2020, she received the Jefferson Trust Award for Early Career Excellence in Community Engagement.
