Farhana Faruqe, a data scientist, researcher, and entrepreneur, specializes in research related to Trustworthy AI, human-centered design, and the acceptance of artificial intelligence. She is actively involved in the Trustworthy AI community and serves as an editorial board member for the AI and Ethics Journal (Springer), where she plays a crucial role in shaping ethical discussions within the AI domain. Farhana has received a grant from The Jefferson Trust to pursue a project to set UVA students up for success in the trustworthy artificial intelligence workforce. Recognizing the importance of equity in the tech industry, she has established AI4Equity, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to empowering future generations, especially young women, by enhancing their knowledge and skills in the tech field. Her mission intertwines coding and AI literacy to empower and uplift young girls in regions where career paths in these areas are frequently discouraged.
