Jess Reia

Jess Reia is an Assistant Professor of Data Science focusing on uncovering overlooked narratives within datasets and advocating for the meaningful involvement of underrepresented communities in data policy decision-making. Their primary areas of interest include data justice, urban governance, and transnational technology policy. Currently, they instruct aspiring data scientists in courses covering ethics, governance, and policy. Additionally, Reia is a co-leader of a project at UVA's Environmental Institute, which investigates the environmental and governance obstacles associated with the integration of big data systems into automobiles.
