Julia V. Taylor

Julia V. Taylor is an associate professor of counselor education and co-directs the Virginia Partnership for School Mental Health VPSMH. The VPSMH is a statewide collaborative effort with the Virginia Department of Education aimed to recruit and retain school mental health professionals and improve culturally responsive practices. Taylor and her colleagues in the School of Education—Professors Natoya Haskins and Michael Lyons—were selected for the UVA 2024 Collaborative Excellence in Public Service Award for their integral contributions to the VPSMH, preparing graduate students for engagement with underserved K-12 schools and providing training, networking, and support for in-service mental health providers across the Commonwealth.
