Katrina J. Debnam is an associate professor in the Schools of Education and Nursing at UVA, where her work focuses on promoting equitable outcomes for marginalized youth. She is the Associate Director for Research Equity at Youth-Nex: The UVA Center to Promote Effective Youth Development, and her research explores teen dating violence prevention among young African American girls, the role of religion in youth development, and the creation of equitable school environments for Black adolescents. Her community-based approach has been supported by the NIH, IES, and the William T. Grant Foundation.
