Dr. Flores researches the constructive contributions of Catholic and Latinx theologies to notions of justice and aesthetics to the life of democracy. She teaches several UVA courses that examine the intersection of religion, democracy, and social issues, including the First-Year Advising Seminar (COLA) “Religion, Tradition, and Social Justice in Charlottesville,” an undergraduate course titled “Religion, Media, and Democracy,” and “Religion and the Common Good,” a graduate-level seminar. Her research in practical ethics addresses issues of democracy, migration, family, gender, economics (labor and consumption), race and ethnicity, and ecology.
