Paul Freedman’s research and teaching focus on elections, media, environmental politics, and the politics of food. As the Academic Director of the Morven Summer Institute, he oversees an innovative program that prioritizes sustainability in education, research, and community involvement and serves as a cornerstone for multidisciplinary learning at UVA. Freedman is a member of the UVA Committee on Sustainability and the UVA Sustainable Food Collaborative, has served on the boards of Cultivate Charlottesville and the Jefferson Institute, and is a past recipient of the UVA Alumni Board of Trustees Teaching Award.
