Paul Perrin

Paul Perrin runs the Social Justice in Disability and Health Lab at UVA’s School of Data Science. He believes that data science, contemporary analytical methods, and community-based participatory research are vital tools for identifying the origins of, and potential remedies for, disparities in disability and health. To achieve this objective, his research focus on "social justice in disability and health" encompasses three dimensions: (a) exploring cultural, familial, and global strategies for disability rehabilitation and adjustment, especially in medically underserved and minority groups dealing with neurological conditions; (b) investigating social determinants of health such as stigma, access to integrated care and telehealth, and personal and collective strengths; and (c) employing social justice approaches to understand and dismantle oppressive systems.
