I design writing seminars that encourage students to interact with the community. Currently, I’m teaching a seminar on food insecurity that gives students the opportunity to work weekly with Loaves and Fishes and The Haven. While some of the writing is requested by our community partners, students also create their own projects,  including research papers, photo essays, reflections, and blogs, to explore the nuances of food insecurity. Our semester culminates in a Writing Showcase for members of both the university and the Charlottesville community.
